"As deeply as I regret yesterday's deaths, the inaccurate reporting of death toll is unprofessional and certainly does not help us on the ground," Omar wrote on twitter.

Many TV news channels and websites of leading national newspapers were reporting a higher death toll in the firing incident than the official figure of four.

"We have had four deaths, not six/seven as some channels/websites are insisting and all injured are stable and out of danger. Even four is four too many," Omar wrote.

"It would certainly be expected from nationally reputed news sites that they would make an effort to report accurate news and not rumours," he added.
