Unidentified gunmen shot dead one person at the National Highway 39 near Kohima on Monday.
Police had recovered the body of the deceased and is yet to be indentified.
Police said the victim, aged about 30 years, was chased by some miscreants who later shot two rounds on his body.
Police had also recovered a photocopy of an extortion note from the possession of the deceased.
