"We are looking forward for India's cooperation and are open on this issue," McGuinty told reporters after his maiden visit to the historical monument of Taj Mahal in Agra.

"While sitting in Canada, we underestimate India's technological and economic advances and how it is reshaping the lives of the people in the country. It's been an eye-opening experience," McGuinty said while describing his first impressions about India.

"Everything from some of the great faiths to the concept of zero, to astronomy, surgery, all those were given birth here in India," he said.

He commended Mahatma Gandhi's contributions to the world peace and said he was a spiritual leader who preached simplicity and non-violence and also a political leader who led India to independence in 1947 after laying wreath with his wife Terry at the Samadhi of Gandhiji at Rajghat on Friday.
