Ordinance approved to amend National Tax Tribunal Act 2005

The union cabinet also approved the promulgation of an ordinance to amend the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Act 1998, reports Sanjiv Shankaran.

The government on Wednesday approved the promulgation of an ordinance on the lines of national tax tribunal (Amendment) ordinance to amend the National Tax Tribunal Act 2005.

The union cabinet also approved the promulgation of an ordinance to amend the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Act 1998 to provide for an inclusion of representatives of the pharmacy council of India on the board of governors. The ordinance is also meant to empower the central government to establish similar institutes.

The union cabinet also approved the purchase of 2.5 lakh electronic voting machines at a cost of Rs 8,670 per unit for general elections to the legislative assemblies in Manipur, Punjab and Uttarakhand.
