She also said that Islamabad was trying to create a misunderstanding among the Pakistanis with regard to the war-ravaged province.

The Pakistan government was conducting a military operation in the province, and Dera Bugti looked like a ghost town, she said while speaking at a seminar - Basha Dam, Arrests and Human Rights - in Lahore.

"The area is surrounded by Frontier Corps personnel and people arrested by intelligence personnel are disappearing, which is a violation of human rights," the Daily Times quoted her as saying.

Asma further alleged that corrupt Pakistani politicians were "supporting" Pervez Musharraf, and that the latter was also playing in the hands of the US.

The Labour Party Pakistan (LLP) had arranged the seminar to condemn the recent arrests of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders who were protesting against Basha Dam.
