Pak troops fired to evacuate injured militants: BSF

Giving tactic support to infiltrating militants, Pakistani troops fired on forward areas on Indian side to give covering fire to the injured militants during their evacuation near zero line after exchange of fire along International Border (IB).

Giving tactic support to infiltrating militants, Pakistani troops fired on forward areas on Indian side to give covering fire to the injured militants during their evacuation near zero line after exchange of fire along International Border (IB) in Ramgarh forward area of Samba district, a senior BSF official said.

Giving details of the incident, Deputy Commandant of BSF A K Choudhary on Tuesday said that yesterday at about 1815 hours, BSF troops deployed along IB in the area of Kandral BOP observed movement of 5-6 armed intruders, who had entered about 40-50 metres inside Indian Territory.

However, they were still ahead of border security fencing, he said.On being challenged, the intruders immediately fired with automatic weapons on BSF troops, he said adding however BSF troops responded promptly and appropriately and the firing was lasted for about two and half hours.

Late night a vehicle was observed plying close to IB on Pakistan side, he said adding it is presumed that vehicle was part of their reinforcement for their ongoing action.

Immediately, there was firing from Pakistan BOP Gandiyal presumably to cover evacuation of some injured militants from the place of incident, he said adding the intermittent firing from Pakistan side continued till midnight.
