Pakistani troops has again violated ceasefire by resorting to firing and mortar shelling on forward posts and civilian areas in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan fired along the LoC in the Balakote sector from 7 pm on Sunday, a day after it called off NSA level talks.
"Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing in Balakote sector from 7 pm to 7.10 pm on Sunday. It fired 60 mm mortar shells with small arms. The Indian army also fired back" said the defence spokesperson.
It was the first incident of firing along the LoC in Rajouri-Poonch sector after Aug 20. There have been 92 incidents of cease fire violation by the Pakistan since Ufa agreement.
Defence minister Manohar Parrikar reached Leh on Sunday on a two-day visit to review security situation along the border.
The minister had reportedly directed troops to respond adequately to the firing from across the border and also ensure zero level of infiltration.
