The Oscar-winning star, who is expecting her second child with rocker hubby Chris Martin, said that bosses at Fox studios had refused to give her the part in Golden Gate because he found her too ugly.
"He (director John Madden) auditioned me for Golden Gate when I was 20. But the guy at Fox who made the decisions said I wasn't pretty enough," Femalefirst quoted her, as telling Sunday Times magazine.
Paltrow added that she had coped with the rejection by refusing to believe such remarks about herself.
"I find it best to be in total denial over remarks like that. I refuse to hear or see. Otherwise, it would drive you nuts," she added.
