PROTESTS AND burning of effigies by various political parties and Hindu frontal organisations against the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai turned out to be a mere formality here on Wednesday.

The BJP, the Congress and the Hindu Mahasabha failed to register their protest against the blasts. The BJP could manage only 100 people for the demonstration at the Parade Crossing today.
Senior BJP leaders reached the party office in Naveen Market at around 11 am. Even after one hour, barely 100 party workers gathered at the party office to take part in the demonstration. Thereafter, the BJP leaders and party workers collected at Skikshak Park, in front of the party office. A number of senior party leaders were present on the occasion. Hey were district BJP chief Rakesh Sonkar, party MLA Satish Mahana, former MP Jagatveer Singh Drone and Ravindra Patni.
Senior BJP leaders addressed the thin gathering and held Pakistan responsible for the blasts. They also held Congress president Sonia Gandhi responsible for the rising incidents of terrorist activities in the country.
Finally, the BJP leaders and party workers with an effigy of terrorism reached the Parade Crossing and burnt it. District president of the Youth Congress Pradeep Mishra along with his supporters also burnt an effigy of terrorism at Parade Crossing. The Youth Congress activists led by state general secretary Shailendra Dixit also staged a token protest and burnt an effigy of terrorism at Shastri Nagar Crossing.
Adding to the list of token protest, five activists of Hindu Mahasabha also burnt the effigy of terrorism at Parade Crossing and raised anti-Pakistan slogans.
