Traffic on the roads was thin and many schools, colleges and offices remained closed in areas under curfew.

South Kashmir’s Pampore area was brought under curfew after a 55-year-old resident, Ghulam Nabi Mir, who was allegedly beaten up by security forces on October 7, succumbed to his injuries late on Thursday night at a Srinagar hospital.

“The family members had alleged that Mir was injured due to alleged beating by some security personnel,” a police spokesperson said.
