Partying hard, Chameli style

Gajras, Meena Kumari posters, Bollywood music, scarves, red nailpaint and fake money. Cocktails called Sensational Julie, Chanchal Chameli, Juicy Helen and Sexy Niloufer. And a Banno Kebab.

Agni was on fire earlier this week, with the chatteratti flaunting the deepest dips by way of necklines. Most turned up in red saris with brocade blouses knotted at the back. The crown would surely have gone to Anjhula Singh for her ultra low-cut blouse and her thumkas on the dance floor. “
The party was fun, so different from the do’s where the crowd comes in all black, flaunting Prada,” she said.
The theme, set by designer Mandira Virk, was Chameli, so what if the film came and went without making much of an impact. Virk actually wore a sari like Kareena Kapoor’s in the film. Others seen flaunting Virk’s take on the Chameli sari included Amanpreet Wahi and Roshini Chopra.
The party went on till 3 a.m., and hitting the dance floor were designer Varun Behl (who for some reason kept running away from the TV cameras, Nikita Anand, Geetika Ganju and Sameer Suhag.
“Theme parties give guests a chance to dress innovatively,” said designer Poonam Bhagat. That’s music to the ears of P3P shutterbugs, what else!
