Parveen Sian crowned first ever Miss India UK
Sian, 25, is a Sales & Accounts Administrator from London, with an obvious ambition of working in Bollywood.
Parveen Sian has been crowned the first ever Miss India UK and is now preparing for the Miss India Worldwide finals in California.
Vanita Panchal, the national director of Miss India UK hopes Sian, will do well at the Miss India Worldwide finals. Sian, 25, is a Sales & Accounts Administrator from London, with an obvious ambition of working in Bollywood.
At 5 ft 8" Sian beat 19 finalists. The judges panel included former Miss World Diana Hayden and Shahnaz Husain. The first runner-up, Priya Kaur Jones, 22, is a journalist from Nottingham and Bina Masand, a 24-year-old Chartered Accountant from Middlesex was second runner up. Apart from her crown Sian also received £1,500 worth of gold.
Among the other awards was Miss Tony & Guy award which went to Balwinder Kaur. Both, the Miss Femi Beauty and Sony Viewer's Choice award went to Priya Patel. The Miss India UK Talent Award went to Aruna Murthy.
For most Asian beauty competitions in the UK, Bollywood is an important part, and Sian danced to Mehboob Mere, from the film Fiza. She has reprtedly, earlier, performed on stage with Bollywood stars including Gulshan Grover and Karisma Kapoor.
