At least five bogies of the Puri-Hatia Express derailed near Maneswar railway station on the outskirt of Sambalpur town, about 300 km from here, at about 5.15 am, a senior official of the local railway office BK Patnaik told IANS.

He said the passengers were taken by bus to the Sambalpur railway station from where they will be sent on a special train to their destination.

The derailment has caused minor disruption of railway traffic. While several trains were delayed, the Intercity Express from Sambalpur to Bhubaneswar has been cancelled.
