The applicant need not provide any proof of urgency. Re-issuance of passports under Tatkal Scheme would be done in three working days on payment of Rs 2,500 without police verification.
Applicants can also apply for passport under Tatkal category for validity of 10 years by getting police verification and submitting three out of 14 documents mentioned in the application form.
Employees in government service and public sector undertakings and their immediate family members (wife and dependant children only) can get passport for 10 years without police verification.
Head of Department of PSU must certify their identity. Minors would now be able to get passport without police verification even if their parents do not hold a valid passport. This would be possible by submitting required documents by one of the parents and suitable proof of parentage.
In absence of any negative indication with the passport issuing authority no pre/post issuance police verification would be done in issuing fresh passports of normal validity of 10 years in lieu of lost/damaged passports.
