A meeting of senior police officials chaired by Home Minister Jayant Patil was held in Mumbai police headquarters in south Mumbai on Wednesday, police sources said.
"Modernisation of Mumbai police, procurement of sophisticated equipment, ensuring better law and order in city and better co-ordination were among the various issues that were discussed today," a Deputy Police Commissioner who attended the meeting told PTI.
The meeting which was attended by Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor, Joint Commissioners, Additional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners began at around 11 am and lasted till 4 pm, source said.
"Patil also visited the control room," the official said.
On Monday, speaking in a two-day conference of senior police officials in the state police headquarters, Patil said the police should take note of every complaint of citizens and address them as early as possible so that people develop confidence in the police.
He also said that gymnasium would be provided near the police quarters so that policemen can maintain the fitness.
