The board held a one-day workshop for the launch which was inaugurated by the board's new chairman Suresh Chugh.

He said the system would help bring transparency, accountability to the process while simplifying it. It would also make the procedure paper-free, he said.

Chugh said the OCMMS would soon be extended to other districts as well.

"Gradually, all services of the board shall be made online for the benefit of the industry and the people at large."

He lauded the efforts of JN Sharma, head of e-governance, and his team for developing and customizing the web-based system with the help of National Informatics Centre and ministry of environment and forest, New Delhi.

PCB member secretary Iqbal Panjoo briefed about the various features of the online system, and pointed out that it would also aid in prompt disposal of cases.

During the workshop, training was imparted to the users and officers of the board.
