Karachi, Apr 1 (PTI) Pakistan Cricket Board today welcomed BCCI's deal with Percept D' Mark and appreciated the initiative it has taken for the cause of earthquake victims.
Indian Cricket Board sold in-stadia rights of this month's two-match one-day series at Abu Dhabi at USD 3.61 million (Rs 16 crore approx) to their country's sports management company Percept D'Mark yesterday.
"I believe USD 3.61 million deal is a whopping one considering the two games and all this initiative has been taken by the BCCI," PCB Director, Operations, Abbas Zaidi said.
Zaidi said it was creditable that BCCI took the initiative to organise such a big event to contribute to the victims of the earthquake that struck Pakistan in October last year.
"Marketing for the April 18 and 19 games in Abu Dhabi was entrusted to BCCI for a good reason. It was the Indian Board that had taken the initiative for organising a big cricketing event to contribute towards the President's Earthquake Relief Fund," he said.
Responding to local media's accusation that PCB was playing second fiddle to India in this project, Zaidi said "in the short time available, it was prudent to let one of the two Boards handle the marketing".
Zaidi also confirmed that Abu Dhabi Cricket Association would be paid USD one million for development of the game.
"They will be paid as part of our strategy to assist cricket emerging nations. By the way, Abu Dhabi Cricket Association also participated in the instadia rights bid but were outclassed by Percept Mark."
