PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, while addressing a rally at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, proposed four ways of finding a happy medium to any organisation — whether those "fighting for freedom or for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue".

The PDP is an opposition party in the state.

The four points were: Sending the army to the borders and the barracks; releasing political prisoners, whether in state jails or outside; revoking the special powers of the armed forces; and return to the state its resources (water and power).
