A tall, lean bowler, Collins forms part of the West Indies pace attack, adding much-needed variety with the angle of his left-arm deliveries.
He graduated to the senior team in 1999 after an impressive spell for West Indies A, which included a three-wicket haul from 11 balls against India.
His one-day career had a less than impressive start with Collins failing to take a single wicket in his first three appearances.
But the 27-year-old, often criticised for his lack of stamina, worked on his fitness and returned to the side in 2001/02 boasting a higher arm action and an extra yard of pace.
His bowling statistics in the limited-overs game remain modest with an average in the high 20s and best figures of three for 18 against Kenya.
But Collins has had good returns in the last year, is fast improving and will prove a handful to any batsman.
