Pritam Malik, who hailed from Bhubaneswar, had been keeping unwell for the past few days, they said.

"He was running high fever for the past few days and had received treatment at AIIMS," a police official said.

Malik was a research scholar at the Centre for Rural Development at the university and was staying at the Brahmaputra Hostel on the campus for the past couple of years.

Police said they do not suspect any foul play but have sent the body for post-mortem.
