Plan smart for a trip to Kerala

We are planning an elaborate nine-day tour of Kerala. After a lot of Internet research, I have sketched my itinerary and plan to visit Munnar (2 days), Thekkady (1 day for the boat safari), Alleppey (1 day), Kumarakom (1 day), Poovar (1 day), Kovalam (1 day) and Trivandrum (1 day). Is this planning adequate for us or is there something more we need to plan and organise? Are we missing any important destination? What are the good hotels in these places for Rs2,000 per night?
Sanjay your planning seems good, but i doubt you will find good hotels at Rs 2,000 a night, especially around kumarakom and thekkady. again, it depends on what services you are expecting. if it is just a room and food then i think you’ll find lots of hotels within that range. but if you want that extra service, you might have to go for a higher price range. most luxury hotels have prices that are much beyond your current estimate. if you’ve never had a house boat tour before, look around different operators and choose carefully as there are lots of bad ones. a good research is required before you book one.
Make sure you ask the house boat operators about their itinerary, which route they are taking, what is the actual time that they will be moving rather than anchored near a side walk, and where exactly they will go. Many a times you will be promised a different route and tour and then once you are in the boat the pilot/staff will say that this is not agreed in the plan. So confirm all these before you head out. Finally, relax and sit back for the ride.
