PM, Dy PM lead HP campaign

Prime Minister and Deputy Prime minister would lead the poll campaign in Himachal Pradesh.
The official BJP list of campaigners, however, does not inlcude the name of party's Hindutva mascot, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.
Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani and BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu would lead the poll campaign as nine national party leaders would make a simultaneous bid to woo the voters in 18 places.
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will campaign on February 20 and 21 to help BJP retain power in the February 26 poll, senior party leader in charge of organisation affairs for Himachal, O P Kohli said here today.
While details of Vajpayee's programme are still being finalised, other national leaders to canvas for party include union ministers Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Shanta Kumar, veterans Uma Bharti, Madan Lal Khurana and general secretaries Rajnath Singh, Pramod Mahajan and V K Malhotra, he said.
The party, said Kohli, would harp on development and the "clean and common man" image of chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal. It would also focus on national security, soft handling of terrorism by Congress supported government in J and K, as also the party's attitude towards POTA, he said.
