Police arrest Youth with 8.5 kg of ganja

Police have arrested a youth and recovered 8.5 kg of ganja (marijuana) from his possession on Saturday night.

Police have arrested a youth and recovered 8.5 kg of ganja (marijuana) from his possession on Saturday night.

The police, during a routine check at BK Chowk, stopped an Esteem car and found the driver carrying a weapon. When the policemen asked the driver to allow them to inspect the vehicle, he sped past them. The man, identified as Sanjay Kumar, was chased and arrested.

"We found 8.5 Kg of ganja inside the car. The accused is a resident of Sector 39 in Noida" said Vimal Rai, deputy SHO of SGM Nagar police station.

The police official said that during interrogation, Sanjay confessed that he was on way to Faridabad from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh to deliver the consignment to his brother-in-law. "We have produced Sanjay before a special court on Sunday, which remanded him to one day's police custody,” Rai added.
