The city police on Saturday cracked two major cases one of which was committed only a few days ago.In the first case they nabbed Ranjit Kanjad who along with his accomplices had whisked away Rs 4. 50 lakh from the boot of a mobike. Police also recovered Rs 50,000 cash stated to be part of the looted money. The incident took place on February 6.

The victim one Sabir Ali resident of Piparsa had taken out Rs 4.50 lakh from Kshetriya Gramin Bank and had gone to PNB Colonelganj for a bank draft leaving his accountant behind to look after the money and the mobike. But the accountant unmindful about the possibility of the money getting whisked away by a gang walked up to a nearby tea stall. In between this period Ranjit the accused who had been following the victim from the Gramin bank found time to break the boot's lock and get away with the money and his accomplices.
While confessing his crime Ranjit told cops that he had been following Sabir and his accountant and was on the look out for the right opportunity.
SSP Vijay Singh Meena told mediapersons that Ranjit, a resident of Robertsganj, was not new to committing such crime and was actively involved in several such incidents.
Police were trying to track down the other three miscreants who have the remaining part of the booty.
The case was cracked by SOG incharge Manoj Singh Raghuvanshi and his team consisting of 14 cops under the guidance of CO Colonelganj Rahul Srivastava and SP City RPS Yadav. The SSP announced cash reward for the team.
In the second case with the arrest and confession of two miscreants--Nazm and Bachcha, they worked out the contract killing of one Neeraj Misra who was shot dead by four persons including the above two.
The cause of the murder was illicit relations of the deceased with a woman.
Gaurav, the husband of the woman, had given supari to four persons through a relative. The murder was committed on February 24, 2006 in the Shivkuti area around 10.45 pm.
Police said they were looking for two more persons Mithun and Ashok involved in this contract killing in which Rs 50,000 were paid.
