In the accident, two persons, including a pregnant mother, were killed and several others injured. Earlier on August 1 too, the police had failed to file the chargesheet in the court during the hearing despite the fact that 90 days had passed since the accident took place. This had triggered a huge controversy.

According to sources, the Gurgaon police are in the thick of investigation into the Gopal Kanda case. It was after HT carried series of reports on the police failure last week, the DCP (East) Maheshwar Dayal who heads the SIT had pitched in and called a hurried meeting of the SIT inspectors and directed them to prepare and file the chargesheet by August 10. The next hearing in the case has been fixed on November 8.

The SIT is still waiting for forensic reports of blood samples of accused Suraj Sehrawat from Madhuban Lab.
