Accused of callousness in investigating the cases of missing children, Noida police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Thursday headed by SSP RKS Rathore to oversee the probe into the grisly killings of children after their sexual abuse.

The team that will also comprise an Additional SP, three Deputy SPs and two inspectors will oversee the investigation into the serial killing of at least 17 children, said Rathore.

He said the SIT will also interrogate the accused. "The SIT will help in speeding up the investigation and will ensure that nothing is left out," he said.

Noida police has been under immense attack over its negligence in handling the cases of missing children in the area over the last two years.

The state government suspended two Superintendents of Police on Wednesday night and sacked six policemen who were found prima facie guilty of negligence.

Piyush Mordia, who was SSP Noida during the time the grisly murder and sexual abuse of children took place and then posted in neighbouring Ghaziabad, was suspended along with Soumitra Yadav, Additional SP, Noida.
