Police remand for accused
The Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Moradabad on Wednesday approved a 30-hour police remand for Jagdish and a 48-hour police remand for Dr KK Aggarwal.
The police had moved an application in the court on Tuesday, seeking the custody of Jagdish, a quack-cum-driver of Dr Upendra, and Dr KK Aggarwal, an anesthetist from Alwar.
“The remands will come in force from Thursday,” said Virendra Sharma, defence lawyer. The police had sought a three-day custody of both accused. Both are currently in judicial custody.
The court also asked Shakya, deputy jailor of the district jail, to be present in court on Thursday to respond to the charges leveled against him by the lawyer of accused. The defence lawyer had charged the deputy jailor with provoking jail inmates to attack his clients. “The court has summoned him in person on Thursday,” said Sharma.
The police had arrested Dr Aggarwal from Alwar on charges of providing anesthetic help to Dr Amit. According to the police, he assisted Dr Amit and others in the last operations, hours before the raid on the Palam Vihar Hospital.
Jagdish has been working with Dr Upendra for a long time.
