In a major relief to Nestle India, the Bombay high court on Thursday quashed FSSAI's ban on Maggi noodles.

The court, however, asked the manufacturer to conduct fresh tests on the popular brand of instant noodles in view of public health concerns.

The company will be allowed to manufacture Maggi again if the lead level in the samples is within permissible level, the HC said, adding the sample-testing has to be done within six weeks.

The government on Tuesday had dealt a blow to Nestle India with a Rs 640 crore damage suit. A day later, shares of the company fell by almost 5%.

Last month, Nestle India reported a net loss of Rs 64.4 crore in its second quarter compared with a net profit of Rs 288 crore a year ago.
