"They (Singh along with his supporters) came in the polling station and started beating me," he alleged.

However, refuting the charges Nirmal Singh accused the officer of "directly supporting" the INLD candidate Balwant Singh.

Ambala SP Mohd Akil said that a case would be registered against Nirmal Singh and two others in this connection.

Some voters who came to vote ran out after witnessing the incident.

Heavy police force had been requisitioned at the polling booth and polling was in progress, police sources said.
