Samples of the accused’s hair, nail and clothes have not matched. On Wednesday, the accused’s father Ebrahim Shaikh said, “Though the police have not communicated to us officially, we have learnt the results have come negative.”

“We have always held that Feroz is innocent and his college management and students too have stood by him. We have all been vindicated by these results. My son will now hopefully get bail.” Feroze is in judicial custody at Taloja jail.

“It is now for the police to find out who the real culprit is. We need to find out the guilty,” Shaikh added.

Police officials refused to comment, but sources confirmed the results were negative.

The parents of the girl had alleged that the eight-year-old had been raped in the school toilet on June 21.
