Poonch encounter continues, one more SPO killed

A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed when an encounter between militants and security forces resumed in forest area of Mendhar in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said in Poonch.
The encounter resumed around midnight in Bhati Dhar forest of Mendhar area and SPO Naresh Kumar was killed, they said, adding the entire area has already been cordoned off by the troops, who are also being assisted by Special Operation Group of police.
JCO Rakesh Kumar and Naik P K Singh besides four militants were killed in a fierce gunbattle which started on Thursday evening between security forces and militants in the forest area of Bhatidhar in Poonch, the spokesman said.
The sources, however, said the bodies of the slain militants have not been recovered so far as the firing by the ultras was continuing.
