DR ASHISH Bose, Chairman, Madhya Pradesh Task Force of the National Commission on Population today met the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here at the Mantralaya.
Bose apprised the Chief Minister regarding aims and activities of the commission constituted by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for ensuring adequate measures for population control.
Chouhan informed Bose that the State Government has taken various measures for posting additional doctors, nurses and other staff in Government hospitals, better health care for expectant mothers and infants and for better nutrition to women and children.
New schemes have been launched to promote institutional deliveries. Chouhan said the State Government was determined to reduce mother and child mortality rates. The situation has improved in all these sectors during last two years and State Government would ensure further measures, he added.
Bose stressed the need for opening more private institutions to meet the shortage of Medical personnel and taking women centric health and family planning measures, which will lead to fall in population growth.
