The junior engineers of the Purvanchal Power Distribution Corporation Limited (PPDCL) have decided to raise such issue effectively in the second convention of the PPDCL branch of the State Electricity Council Junior Engineers Organisation, scheduled to be held in Varanasi on May 18.

Giving this information to mediapersons here on Wednesday, secretary of organisation, Shivajee Singh said that there was a shortage of junior engineers and at present, the junior engineers of the Purvanchal Power Corporation were working under great pressure. He said State Minister for Panchayati Raj Balram Yadav would inaugurate the convention, while director (technical) of PPDCL, Suharsh Awasthi and General Manager Jawahar Lal would be the special guest of the convention. He further said that Managing Director of PPDCL, Arvind Kumar would be the chief guest of the second session of the convention.

“Wrong government policy towards power supply is instigating the common public who vent their angers on the power employees and junior engineers”, he
said.

Cong activists demonstrate against powercuts

DISTRICT YOUTH Congress activists, on Wednesday, staged an agitation at Beniabagh power sub-station to protest against the grim power scenario here in the entire district.

Led by their president, Dr Dayashanker Mishra ‘Dayalu’, the activists and local residents took out a procession from Nai Sarak tri-junction and reached Beniabagh power sub-station to register their protest.

The agitators raised slogans such as ‘vidyut katauti band karo’ and ‘pradesh ki janta roti hein, Mulayam sarkar chain se soti hein’. It was alleged the non-Congress governments paid little attention towards upgrading power scenario in Uttar Pradesh. “Not a single power house was installed after 1989 in the state,” alleged the agitated Congress workers.

The speakers alleged Haraha Sarai, Pitar Kunda, Nai Sarak, Hauj Katora and Dashashwamedh areas were experiencing a 15-hour power cut every day. They alleged the old and dilapidated wires, electricity poles and transformers had multiplied the problem of power crisis.
