UNIDENTIFIED MISCREANTS hurled a series of bombs at newly elected Jungle Kauria block pramukh Brijesh Yadav and his supporters at Maniram crossing, under Chiluatal police station, here on Saturday.

Four persons, including the pramukh, sustained serious injuries.

The three others were Ram Achal Nishad, Markandey Yadav and Ramakant Nishad.

They were admitted to BRD Medical College. The condition of two of the injured was reported to be critical. Police said the incident was a result of political rivalry between Brijesh and the Gorakh Singh group. Brijesh was a candidate of the Hindu Yuva Vahini in the recently concluded block pramukh election. He had defeated the SP candidate Gorakh Singh. Following the incident, Brijesh’s supporters blocked traffic at Asuran crossing. They raised slogans against the government and the police administration.

Senior Hindu Yuva Jagran Manch leader Rakesh Pahelwan, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath and other saffron brigade leaders rushed to the spot.

They issued a 12-hour ultimatum to the administration to arrest the miscreants.

Brijesh, resident of Ahiraulu village under Chiluatal police station, was going to Gorakhnath temple, along with former deputy pramukh Ram Achal Nishad, BDC member Markandey Yadav, Hindu Yuva Vahini district coordinator Ramakant Nishad, Rajesh Dubey, Bhunwar Yadav and others.

As their Bolero reached Maniram railway crossing, four miscreants hurled bombs at them, creating panic in the area. Braving the attack, the driver rushed the Bolero to Bargadwa police post and informed police about the incident. Circle officer Dinesh Tripathi, SP, City, Dilip Kumar and Chiluatal police station incharge Anupam Srivastav rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to Gorakhnath Hospital. They were later referred to BRD Medical College.
