Prayers, feasts mark X-mas

CHRISTMAS, THE occasion for festivities, fun and families was celebrated with traditional mirth in the City on Monday. Family gatherings, holiday meals, Santa, stars and singing carolers made up the occasion. It was also a day of gifts, X?mas trees and twinkling lights. And of hot cocoa, plum cakes, gingerbread and chocolates.

CHRISTMAS, THE occasion for festivities, fun and families was celebrated with traditional mirth in the City on Monday. Family gatherings, holiday meals, Santa, stars and singing carolers made up the occasion. It was also a day of gifts, X’mas trees and twinkling lights. And of hot cocoa, plum cakes, gingerbread and chocolates.

Devouts thronged churches in the morning after the midnight mass. Prayers and carols followed distribution of sacramental wine.

Family get-togethers, outings completed the day as restaurants, malls encashed the occasion. Departmental stores and malls got busier by the evening as there was steady stream of visitors to window shop, appreciate the special decoration and relish the goodies prepared for the day.

Santa Claus in his red flowing gowns greeted the kid-customers with chocolates. He could also be seen moving through streets with message of love. Most leading hotels and restaurants were also decorated to mark the festive occasion.

The households glittered with lit clay lamps, festoons and Christmas tree adorned with coloured lights, papers and plastic decoration. At the end of day, celebrations came to full circle when the young ones opened the gifts artistically placed under the X’mas tree and danced in joy.
