Privilege Motion against Beig moved in J&K Assembly

Jammu and Kashmir Assmebly Speaker today accepted the privilege motion moved by National Conference against PDP leader Muzaffar Beig, who accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to be involved in 2006 sex scandal in the state.

In a high drama that took place in the assembly on Tuesday, CM Omar Abdullah tendered his resignation, but the Governor refused to accept it.

The CBI gave the Chief Minister a clean chit and said that Omar as well as his father Farooq were not named in the scandal.

Omar, however, did not attend the assembly session today.

On Tuesday night, within hours of Omar’s announcement of resignation, Beig backtracked on its allegations, saying Omar was not “an accused in sex scandal” and his party was “ready to leave the matter behind”, a news channel reported.
