Priyanka Chopra's grandfather and Cong leader dies

Congress leader Manohar Kishan Akhouri died of cardiac arrest at Tata main hospital. He took part in trade union activities and led a strike in seven engineering companies in the steel city to demand pay revision in late 1960s.

Grandfather of Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and Congress leader Manohar Kishan Akhouri died of cardiac arrest today at Tata main hospital here, family sources said.

He was 84 and is survived by four daughters and two sons. A resident of Adityapur in Saraikela-Kharswan district, he was admitted to the hospital on January 10 with breathing and cardiac problems, family sources said.



Akohuri's eldest daughter and Priyanka's mother Madhu Chopra was present at the time of his death. He was a PCC president of Bihar in 1967. Akhouri took part in trade union activities and led a strike in seven engineering companies in the steel city to demand pay revision in late 1960s.
