'Probe Hair before grilling Inzamam'
PCB has demanded an inquiry into Hair's conduct of accusing Pakistan of ball tampering. Does ICC have different yardstick for players from Asian countries?
Pakistan has asked the International Cricket Council to probe Australian umpire Darrell Hair's conduct at the Oval Test before holding the hearing of skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq next month.
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan, in a letter to the world governing body, has demanded an inquiry into Hair's conduct of accusing Pakistan of ball tampering and his decision to forfeit the Test in favour of England.
Shaharyar wants the inquiry to be launched before the ICC takes a decision on charges of ball tampering.
Shaharyar wrote the letter after the ICC cancelled its Executive Board meeting scheduled for September 2 in Dubai to discuss the ball tampering controversy.
"The decision by the ICC to cancel the Executive body meeting in Dubai was taken after a consensus was reached among the members," Shaharyar told 'The News' in London.
He said Pakistan were okay with the cancellation as long as the ICC agreed to open an inquiry against Hair for his role in the The Oval Test.
PCB also wants to make sure that Hair is not allowed to stand in any match involving Pakistan in the future. It is also hoping to get the charges levelled against Inzamam dropped, the paper said.
