The Maharashtra unit of BJP on Thursday demanded a high level probe into the missing of large number of voters' names from the electoral list in Mumbai.

"The missing of large number of names from the electoral list in Mumbai raises suspicion and a high level probe should be conducted in it," the state BJP sources said in a memorandum submitted to Chief Electoral Officer RK Bhargava.

The sources said the Election Commission should hold an inquiry of the persons involved in the formation of electoral list as names of two lakh voters is estimated to be missing from the electoral list.

The mistakes in the electoral list have been pointed out to the Chief Electoral officer with including the missing of voters name having electoral identity card, the sources said.

The state BJP said the chief electoral officer has assured of looking into the matter after completion of the entire process of Lok Sabha elections.
