“Usually, in ageing, prostate develops two types of disease, one is prostrate cancer and other is non-cancerous growth of prostate BPH (Benign Prostate Hypertrophy),” Prof Singh told mediapersons here on Saturday.

Prof Singh said that 70 to 80 per cent of prostate diseases were because of Benign Prostate Hypertrophy well predominant symptoms of frequency, urgency and urge incontinence. “If it is not treated at this stage, it leads to retention of urine requiring surgical intervention,” he said.

“If the patient is made aware of the symptoms at an early stage, which is not physiological but symptoms of Benign Prostate Hypertrophy, the progression of disease can be avoided,” he said.
