Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma, others to attend ?Virasat?

PT SHIV Kumar Sharma and Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan will attend the closing ceremony of ?Virasat? series of Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) at Saraswati Ghat on December 2.

The event is being organised by SMC Ghoorpur. In a press meet held here on Wednesday, Reena Singh, principal of SMC Ghoorpur and Dr Madhu Shukla, convener SPIC MACAY Allahabad chapter said that all schools of the city are being invited to attend the event with each school allowed to bring in 10 students and two teachers. At the closing ceremony Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma and ustad Abdul Rashid will enthrall the audience with their performance. Virasat was inaugurated at Varanasi on August 19, 2006. Thereafter this event was held in 62 cities of the state. The main objective of SPIC MACAY is to introduce the younger generation with the invaluable cultural heritage of the country. The society has held various events in the city inviting school children with an endeavour to make them come close to their cultural heritage and identify themselves with it.
