Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal appeared in a special court in Rupnagar on Tuesday in connection with the Rs 78 crore disproportionate assets case. The Badal family was directed by special judge G S Saran on March nine to appear before the court.

The Court had directed framing of charges against Badal, his wife Surinder Kaur and their son and seven others in the disproportionate assets case on March nine.
A case of cheating and forgery was registered against the Badals and others by the Punjab vigilance bureau on June 24, 2003.
