During the 1987 World Cup, Zimbabwean wicketkeeper batsman, Dave Houghton played one of the most memorable innings in Cup history. The right-handed batsman made an epic 141, helped by half a dozen towering sixes against New Zealand.

It was the first ever Herculean essay compiled by a Zimbabwean with the bat. Incidentally, the Africans were minnows then, and hadn't yet got test status.

During the innings, however, the heat in Hyderabad took its toll on Houghton and affected by dehydration, in the end, he played a tired shot to get out.

Until this day Houghton feels that had he stretched a bit longer, the Africans would have won.
