Rae Bareli, too, to have DLW

RAILWAY BOARD chairman JP Batra said a Diesel Locomotive Workshop (DLW) would soon be established in Rae Bareli at an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. Varanasi already has such a workshop.

RAILWAY BOARD chairman JP Batra said a Diesel Locomotive Workshop (DLW) would soon be established in Rae Bareli at an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. Varanasi already has such a workshop.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, the Railway Board chairman said a
coach manufacturing unit would be established at Chapra in Bihar at an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.

Batra reached Varanasi by the Swatantrata Senani Express and inspected the Cantonment railway station.

He expressed satisfaction with the reservation system at Varanasi, but stressed the need to improve passenger amenities at the station.

He also held a meeting of officials of North Eastern Railway and took stock of various projects.

Divisional Railway Manager RK Gupta and DRM of North Eastern Railway Shailendra Tripathi were among other senior officials present at the
meeting.
