Varsity administration has taken strong cognizance of the incident and is working to ensure that such incidents were not repeated. It was with this endeavour that LU carried out a massive check on the Second Campus to ensure rowdy elements did not venture on the campus.

The top brass gave necessary directives to the proctorial team and other teachers to keep a hawk eye on the movement of the senior students.

Proctor in charge was asked to submit detailed report over the incident.

Sources said during their visit, the team found junior students wearing similar type of dresses (like uniform). When probed, it came into light that seniors had set some kind of “dress code” for the juniors. There were reports that LU had asked students not to follow the instructions of their seniors and move freely on the campus.

Chief proctor AN Singh told this newspaper that V-C and other members of proctorial team stayed there for at least an hour or so and interacted with host of students, both juniors and seniors.

“We told the seniors categorically to keep away from their juniors and not to indulge in any activity that amounted to ragging. Juniors were asked to feel free and report instantly to proctor or teacher if their senior ragged them or exercised force on them,” he said on returning from the Second Campus.
