Amausi airport was packed on Thursday afternoon. Khaki-clad men rubbed shoulders with Congressmen laden with flowers. Outside, the media had turned out in full strength.

The occasion was the 29-km roadshow of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

On his arrival, the “youth icon” was almost mobbed by flag-waving, garland-carrying, autograph-seeking supporters.

The party bus, which carried him, and other state leaders moved through the key areas of Lucknow.

The response, though, was mixed. While the yatra drew huge crowds in the beginning, crowds were thin in certain areas like Rajajipuram, Tikait Rai Talab, Bulaki adda, Tudiaganj and Nadan Mahal road.
