The railway authorities have asked the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) to widen the road to the city railway station.

This will give much respite to passengers heading for the city railway station.

The railway authorities propose to construct new entry and exit gates in the station.

The station superintendent of the Gurgaon station has written a letter to the MCG in this regard.

RK Meena, station superintendent, has also asked the MCG to remove the encroachments on its land. This is essential for widening of the entry gate, said a senior railway official.

"The civic body should initiate steps to widen the road leading to the station," said the official. The area has been plagued by traffic jams. The railway police do not allow entry of buses in the railway station premises. Therefore, drivers have to stop their buses outside the station. This causes much inconvenience to passengers as they have to walk more than 300 metres to reach the station.

"The congestion near the station is causing lot of inconvenience to drivers and passengers. The auto-rickshaws too add to the confusion," said the official.

Private vehicles are allowed to park inside though there is no dedicated space for parking.

"Haphazard parking by motorists eats into the public space causing inconvenience to bus operators," said a driver of a private bus.

The vacant space in and around the railway station is being used by visitors to park their vehicles.
