"I met the former Prime Minister and the NCP and Union Minister Pawar to apprise them about the voice I raised with regard to growing influence of middlemen and brokers in politics", Babbar said.

Describing his meetings with the two leaders as "very encouraging", Babbar, who has announced that he would float a "Samajwadi Manch" to carry forward his battle for a "clean and secular" polity, said VP Singh and Pawar were very appreciative of the issues raised by him.

The former Prime Minister said after the meeting that he knows Babbar very well and "is a selfless man who has struggled with him. Today, he is not raising the question due to some selfish interests. Babbar did not ask any favour from me even when I was the Prime Minister".

The MP from Agra said the former Prime Minister has assured him of his support in his endeavour for clean politics.

Babbar, who had earlier met CPI-M leaders Prakash Karat and JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, said he would also meet other socialist leaders including George Fernandes, Satyadev Tripathy, Mohan Prakash, Madhukar Dighe, Rameshawar Singh and Aniruddha Singh.
