Rajasthan poll: 612 candidates of national parties in fray

Of the 1,541 candidates in fray for the assembly elections in Rajasthan, 612 are fielded by political parties recognised by the Election Commission as national parties.

Of the 1,541 candidates in fray for the assembly elections in Rajasthan, 612 are fielded by political parties recognised by the Election Commission as national parties, it was officially stated on Saturday.

While the Congress has fielded candidates in all the 200 constituencies, the BJP has fielded nominees in 197 seats, Bahujan Samaj Party in 124, Nationalist Congress Party in 58, CPI(M) in 18 and CPI in 15, an official release said.

Other registered and unrecognised parties have fielded 373 candidates, while 556 are independents, it said.

Among the registered and unrecognised parties, the Samajwadi Party is contesting from 62 constituencies, Rajasthan Samajik Nyaya Manch from 66, Indian National Lok Dal from 50, Rashtriya Lok Dal from 41, Lok Jan Shakti Party from 36, Shiv Sena from 35, Rashtriya Parivartan Dal from 19, Janata Dal(U) from 10, Janat Dal(S) from nine and Janata Party and Akhil Bhartiya Congress Dal (Ambedkar) from six each.
