Rape victim killed by husband after marriage

A youth, who had married the girl he had raped on the orders of a community panchayat, allegedly murdered her at Kulheri village in the district, police said today.

The pregnant girl was allegedly strangled to death by Lalit in Muzaffarnagar on Thursday. He along with his family members cremated her body without informing the police and her parents, they said.

Devendra, brother of the victim, then lodged a complaint with the police against nine persons, including Lalit and his father, in this regard.

The girl was raped by Lalit. After she became pregnant a community panchayat was convened which ordered Lalit to marry her.
